CASTRIES, St. Lucia (CMC) — St Lucia has climbed the International Netball Federation ranking in time to qualify for the XX Commonwealth Games to be held in Glasgow, Scotland next year.St Lucia moved one rank up from number 13 to number 12, effective July 1st, according to the revised INF rankings.Fiji ranked at number seven is currently suspended from the Commonwealth of Nations.At the cut-off date for qualification for participation in netball, St Lucia met the criterion, as the eleventh Commonwealth country with the highest INF ranking in the list of nations from four of the six Commonwealth regions, namely: Africa, Europe, the Pacific and the Caribbean.The St Lucia National Netball Association says it is glad for the opportunity to expose national players to international competition.At the Ganes St Lucia will compete with the following countries (listed according to their current INF ranking): New Zealand, Australia, England, Jamaica, Malawi, South Africa, Wales, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Northern Ireland and Scotland (ranked at #13).The XX Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23rd to August 3rd, 2014.
